The Silver Line is a limited-stop bus route with some bus rapid transit features. The line is operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and is branded as a Metro Liner route. The Silver Line runs between the El Monte Station, Downtown Los Angeles and the Harbor Gateway Transit Center in Gardena. The Silver Line offers frequent, all-stops service along the El Monte Busway and the Harbor Transitway, which until the opening of this Metro Liner route on December 13, 2009 had been mostly served by peak-hour express buses. Silver Line buses make a limited amount of stops in Downtown LA (10 per direction), all located near Metro Rail stations, major employment centers and tourist destinations. Operation of the Silver Line is partly funded by the Metro ExpressLanes project that converted the El Monte Busway and the Harbor Transitway into high-occupancy toll lanes that allow solo drivers to pay a toll to use lanes that are otherwise reserved for buses and vehicles with 2, 3 or more occupants. The Metro ExpressLanes project has also provided funding to improve amenities at the station stops along the line. Unlike the other route in the Metro Liner system, the Orange Line, the Silver Line does not have off-board fare payment and does not operate in an exclusive right-of-way. ==Service description== The bus rapid transit line runs west from the El Monte Station in El Monte to Union Station using high-occupancy toll lanes (HOT lanes) on the El Monte Busway. From there it heads south along surface streets through downtown Los Angeles, joins the Harbor Transitway using HOV lanes for the final section to the Harbor Gateway Transit Center in the district of Harbor Gateway near the city of Carson. It also serves California State University, Los Angeles, the County+USC Medical Center, University of Southern California and a number of bus stops in the downtown area with connections to Metro Rail services and mainline rail services from Union Station. The line also serves stations in the communities of Exposition Park, South Los Angeles and Gardena. The Metro Silver Line serves a combination of stations and street stops. The Silver Line will have a new busway station near the Patsaouras Transit Plaza in June 2015 as part of the Metro ExpressLanes project. While none of the Silver Line stations are presently equipped with ticket vending machines, during a Metro Board of Directors meeting in January 2013, the implementation of 5 ticket vending machines at the El Monte Station was approved. During August 2012, Metro added a Metro pylon sign for the Silver Line at Harbor Gateway Transit Center, as part of the Metro ExpressLanes project. Metro has recently approved proposals to revitalize the Silver Line stations and improve wayfinding as well as adding art to their stations.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Metro Silver Line Stations Revitalization Program )〕 Metro upgraded all of the Silver Line stations in December 2014. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Silver Line (Los Angeles Metro)」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
